USACR/SC Wins Silver & Bronze Omni Intermedia Awards
Alexandria, VA, February 28, 2011 – The Fall 2010 Omni Awards have been announced! Congratulations to the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center (USACR/SC), which won two coveted Omni Intermedia Awards in both the Government and Educational award categories. The Collateral Duty Safety Officer (CDSO) course received silver and the Risk Communication course received bronze. Both courses were judged on Omni Awards’ multimedia criteria, which include creativity, graphics, programming, ease of use, functionality, audio, special effects, and impact.
“The Omni Intermedia Awards is such a respected and recognized award competition in our industry,” says John Carney, President and CEO of Carney, Inc. “We are so pleased with our partnership with USACR/SC and excited to be a component in their success.”
In the Collateral Duty Safety Officer (CDSO), learning is facilitated by engaging participants in an immersive environment that employs a carefully planned 3D simulation. Innovative uses of multimedia technology abound, from the interactive avatars, to the linear navigational controls designed to resemble a smartphone, to the videocasts that launch from within the 3D environment.
Emphasizing the critical importance of communication skills in an emergency situation, the Risk Communication course weaves instructional information throughout the course in its storyline. Learners experience real-world effects through an immersive, guided depiction of actions taken by Army safety professionals in response to a crisis.
Since 1997, the Omni Awards have recognized the accomplishments of outstanding media production in an array of fields. Patterned after the Emmy Awards, the Omni Awards are determined by a panel of three peer professionals who judge each submission based upon a rigorous set of criteria. In that way, winners have the distinction of being selected by their colleagues as an example of excellence. The Omni Awards proudly proclaims, “As a nationally known award competition, we have developed our reputation by awarding only those people who exemplify the highest standards of quality.”
