USAID Wins Gold and Silver Omni Intermedia Awards
Alexandria, VA, February 28, 2011 – Carney is pleased to congratulate the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) for their recent achievement in winning two prestigious Omni Intermedia Awards. USAID received a coveted gold award for their Insignia and Rank Course, and a silver award for their Basic Department of Defense (DoD) Information Course. The Omni Intermedia Awards rank submissions on a 10- point scale. A score of 9.5 or higher earns a gold award, and a score of 8.5 to 9.5 earns a silver award. Only about five percent of all applicants receive gold Omni Awards.
Both winning courses are included in a four-part program entitled, “Working with the Military” that USAID’s Office of Military Affairs created to enable USAID personnel to leverage existing DoD resources on development projects. USAID contracted with Carney, Inc. to help create this program.
USAID’s gold-winning course, Insignia and Rank, educates USAID personnel about the hierarchy, structure, and specific insignia used by each branch of the military. The course offers valuable content for almost any audience, powerful visuals, and easy to recall analogies that increase retention and performance. A “gaming” element gives learners an opportunity to benchmark their existing knowledge or practice what they’ve learned after taking the course.
The Basic DoD Information Course is significant in that it brings together information that has never before been available in one place to create a thorough, easy to digest, “one stop shop” for information on all of the elements of the DoD and how they collectively operate. The course delivers a cogent repertoire of information, facts, and resources that agency personnel can refer to when interacting with military personnel on the job. Learners experience a wide range of highly engaging visual presentations intended to grab their attention and reinforce specific content and key points in memorable ways using graphics, photographs, and animations
