Defense Security Service Center for Development of Security Excellence (DSS CDSE) and Carney, Inc. Win at the 9th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards Competition
Indianapolis, IN USA – May 1, 2011 – The Horizon Interactive Awards, a leading international interactive media awards competition, announced the 2010 award winners to highlight this year’s “best of the best” in interactive media production.
Defense Security Service Center for Development of Security Excellence (DSS CDSE) and Carney have been recognized for their excellence in training with awards for both the Thwarting the Enemy course and the Storage Containers and Facilities Practical Exercise. The Thwarting the Enemy course received Silver awards in both the Government Agency and Education categories, while the Storage Containers and Facilities Practical Exercise was honored with a Silver award in the Government Agency category.

Thwarting the Enemy: Providing Counterintelligence and Threat Awareness to the Defense Industrial Base educates employees of the Defense Industrial Base about foreign collection trends targeting U.S. critical technologies. Designed around a large disaster, this interactive scenario-based courseware allows learners to engage in the disaster investigation, consider the decisions that were made and their consequences, and learn about how they and their employers are targeted and what they can do to protect U.S. critical technologies.
The Storage Containers and Facilities Practical Exercise allows learners to apply what they have previously learned about the various types of storage facilities and containers used to protect assets vital to national security. The exercise uses realistic, hands-on activities applied to real-world situations inside a virtual environment. This interactive exploratory exercise engages learners to develop a security-conscious approach for the handling and storing of sensitive materials.
The ninth annual, international competition saw over 1000 entries from 22 countries around world including: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, and the United Kingdom, and nearly all 50 of the United States of America. An international panel of judges, consisting of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, as well as an end-user panel evaluated 37 different categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2010 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including web sites, CDs and DVDs, online ads, video, mobile applications and more.
