U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Carney, Inc. Win at the 9th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards Competition

Horizon Interactive Awards

Indianapolis, IN USA – May 1, 2011 – The Horizon Interactive Awards, a leading international interactive media awards competition, announced the 2010 award winners to highlight this year’s “best of the best” in interactive media production.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Carney have been recognized for their excellence in training with awards for both the Insignia and Rank course and Basic DoD Information course. The Insignia and Rank course received Bronze awards in both the Government Agency and Education categories, while the Basic DoD Information course was honored with a Bronze award in the Government Agency category and a Silver award in the Education category.

"These awards represent a commitment to helping Federal Agencies accomplish mission critical goals," said John Carney, President and CEO of Carney, Inc.

The Insignia and Rank course educates USAID personnel about the hierarchy, structure, and specific insignia used by each branch of the military. The course offers valuable content for almost any audience, powerful visuals, and easy to recall analogies that increase retention and performance. A "gaming" element gives learners an opportunity to benchmark their existing knowledge or practice what they’ve learned after taking the course.

The Basic DoD Information course provides the learner with a media-rich primer on the structure, nature, and mission of the nation’s Department of Defense. A modular design provides the learner with not only a comprehensive introduction to our Federal Government’s largest department, but a "just-in-time" resource for review at any time. Covering such content as the Department of Defense structure, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the military alphabet, and the DoD dictionary, this immersive, web-based course was designed to prepare those USAID employees with no prior DoD foundation for competently and confidently working in this domain.

The ninth annual, international competition saw over 1000 entries from 22 countries around world including: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, and the United Kingdom, and nearly all 50 of the United States of America. An international panel of judges, consisting of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, as well as an end-user panel evaluated 37 different categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2010 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including web sites, CDs and DVDs, online ads, video, mobile applications and more.

“The 2010 competition was an outstanding entry field,” said Mike Sauce – Founder of the Horizon Interactive Awards. ”The overall diversity and quality of entries we received was fantastic and judging was very competitive. We’re starting to see a convergence of all types of media, from web to mobile, into more integrated solutions for clients around the world. That’s exciting to see!”

The Horizon Interactive Awards holds the competition each year with the winners being announced in May. For more information visit the Horizon Interactive Awards at www.horizoninteractiveawards.com.
