The Social Collaboration in Government Seminar Series features presentations and round table discussions with leading practitioners of social media collaboration and is intended exclusively for government agency personnel. Sponsored by the National Technical Information Service (NTIS), this series is targeted to Directors, Chief Learning Officers, Chief Information Officers and their staff and is focused on enhancing individual and team performance through collaboration. With this contract, Carney continues an extensive record of performance support and training for U.S. troops around the world.

CAPdL is a component of the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command's (TRADOC) program. TRADOC ensures that soldiers and their units have the necessary knowledge to meet the Army’s vast range of needs.

This interactive exploratory exercise engages learners to develop a security-conscious approach for the handling and storing of sensitive materials.

The ninth annual, international competition saw over 1000 entries from 22 countries around world including: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, and the United Kingdom, and nearly all 50 of the United States of America. An international panel of judges, consisting of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, as well as an end-user panel evaluated 37 different categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2010 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including web sites, CDs and DVDs, online ads, video, mobile applications and more.

The Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR) Refresher training is an eight-hour, 508-compliant web-based course offering learners a performance-based environment to apply and practice the COTR's authorities, duties, and responsibilities. Module One, Bridging the Gap, utilizes a game format and scoring mechanism developed around the four phases of a contract: pre-award, post-award, contract management, and closeout. Threaded throughout the game are procurement ethics scenarios at each phase of the acquisition life cycle. Feedback to the game questions includes graphics illustrating and emphasizing relationships while animations reinforce dynamic processes, relationships, and motion-related content. Module Two, COTR Contract Administration, presents a situational learning environment utilizing 10 exercises based on a service contract. In this case-based module, highly interactive exercises focus the learners on applying a variety of methods to complete the analysis and evaluation required throughout the contract phases. Feedback exploits Carney’s rich multimedia capability, including text, audio, graphics, and animation.

JAMtech Technology Workshop for High School Students Brings Top Talent to Carney, Inc.

Alexandria, VA, May 13, 2011 – Carney is pleased to announce their upcoming third annual JAMtech event scheduled for May 21, 2011. Aimed at junior and senior high school students from around the Northern Virginia area, the full day workshop allows participants to work closely with Carney digital artists and software engineers to design and develop their own web-based game. Space is limited to only the best and brightest students that show promise in the fields of new technologies and computer programming. In the Collateral Duty Safety Officer (CDSO), learning is facilitated by engaging participants in an immersive environment that employs a carefully planned 3D simulation. Innovative uses of multimedia technology abound, from the interactive avatars, to the linear navigational controls designed to resemble a smartphone, to the videocasts that launch from within the 3D environment.

Emphasizing the critical importance of communication skills in an emergency situation, the Risk Communication course weaves instructional information throughout the course in its storyline. Learners experience real-world effects through an immersive, guided depiction of actions taken by Army safety professionals in response to a crisis.

Since 1997, the Omni Awards have recognized the accomplishments of outstanding media production in an array of fields. Congratulations to the Defense Security Service’s Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE), for winning two Omni Intermedia Awards in both the Government and Educational award categories for its Storage Container and Facilities practical exercise and Special Access Program (SAP) Overview. Based on the Omni Awards’ multimedia criteria, which include creativity, graphics, programming, ease of use, functionality, audio, special effects, and impact, the Storage Container and Facilities practical exercise received a silver and the Special Access Program (SAP) Overview received a bronze.

USAID Wins Gold and Silver Omni Intermedia Awards

Alexandria, VA, February 28, 2011 – Carney is pleased to congratulate the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) for their recent achievement in winning two prestigious Omni Intermedia Awards. USAID received a coveted gold award for their Insignia and Rank Course, and a silver award for their Basic Department of Defense (DoD) Information Course. The Omni Intermedia Awards rank submissions on a 10- point scale. A score of 9.5 or higher earns a gold award, and a score of 8.5 to 9.5 earns a silver award. Only about five percent of all applicants receive gold Omni Awards.

Both winning courses are included in a four-part program entitled, “Working with the Military” that USAID’s Office of Military Affairs created to enable USAID personnel to leverage existing DoD resources on development projects. USAID contracted with Carney, Inc. to help create this program.

USAID’s gold-winning course, Insignia and Rank, educates USAID personnel about the hierarchy, structure, and specific insignia used by each branch of the military. The course offers valuable content for almost any audience, powerful visuals, and easy to recall analogies that increase retention and performance. A “gaming” element gives learners an opportunity to benchmark their existing knowledge or practice what they’ve learned after taking the course.

The Basic DoD Information Course is significant in that it brings together information that has never before been available in one place to create a thorough, easy to digest, “one stop shop” for information on all of the elements of the DoD and how they collectively operate. The course delivers a cogent repertoire of information, facts, and resources that agency personnel can refer to when interacting with military personnel on the job. Learners experience a wide range of highly engaging visual presentations intended to grab their attention and reinforce specific content and key points in memorable ways using graphics, photographs, and animations
